Welcome to Arab Music Online - your crosscultural guide to contemporaray Arab music. This project has started on 13/06/99 with the goal to provide cultural information from and about the Arab world through the internet. Hereby the focus will be on nowaday´s music.

Audio-Formats: To allow the audience to listen to the songs at home, they will be downloadable in MPEG 3 format (.mp3). To listen to the songs online, they are available in streaming Real Audio G2. For both audio-standards, specific software is needed. Please refer to the "software"-section to find out, where to download it.

System info: This page is best viewed under Netscape Navigator 4 (and upward versions). The display is suitable for monitors with 640 *480 pixels (and better). To download the browser, please refer to the Software section.

Copyright-Note: The content of these pages is copyrighted by Arab Music Online except of the songs themselves. So no part of this page should be mirrored without prior note to Arab Music Online. Also the links to the songs provided are protected under this copyright and should not be linked from outside Arab Music Online. The copyright of the songs belong to the artists and the record-companies. So you must erase every downloaded song after 24 hours. Songs you would like to keep in your archive should be bought by any record-store. I am aware of the problem that several songs are not available anywhere outside the arab world. Nevertheless you should try to legally get hold of the desired song. You will not find any whole album on Arab Music Online. Instead there is a limit of one song per artist on this server to make sure you buy the CD if you like the song. If the CD is (to the best of our knowledge) available online, you will find a link to the retailer. We will start working on a list of Arab CD´s that can be ordered online, soon.

We need your help: As we do have access to Egyptian, Algerian and Libanese songs, it is easy for us to provide you with new music from these countries. For music from the rest of the Arab world we rely on your support. So please send us hints and requests or .mp3-files so we can publish them on Arab Music Online.
